About

Our story begins decades ago, when the Rust family raised Karakul Sheep and later cattle on this rugged land, battling the unforgiving climate that edges the world’s oldest desert. Farming was never easy here, but when Diethelm ("Didi") Rust inherited the farm, he saw not just what it was, but what it could become.
With a vision rooted in nature and conservation, Didi removed the fences and began building a few roads through the farm to make it accessible.. He rented out the farmhouse as a self catering unit while working as a tour guide across Southern Africa. In 2018, a fateful meeting in Botswana changed everything—he met Terry, a kindred spirit in hospitality. They fell in love, and by December 2019, Terry joined Didi on the farm.
Then came Covid in March 2020. With no guests and only time on their side Didi and Terry reshaped the land, by building hiking trails and one campsite after the other.
Today, Erongo Rocks boasts eight unique campsites, some tucked among gigantic granite boulders, breath-taking viewpoints, and a web of hiking trails that invite you to slow down and truly explore this nature farm on foot.
And the transformation continues. On the 7th September 2025 the rustic 100 year old farmhouse is evolving into a gathering place—offering healthy meals, Wi-Fi, and a central place for campers who crave comfort and connection.
Didi & Terry look forward to welcoming you to their nature farm.
